"Flaming Koi, Fragrant Lily"
Oil on linen
30 x 40
Sold
| This large painting is painted on hand stretched linen primed with a warm yellow/orange gesso with a layer of gold metallic gesso over it. It is impossible to experience this through the web. Because I use a lot of transparent pigments the deep pond areas have a shimmering quality. It is also hard to reproduce in photography the subtle oranges and reds of the koi. This piece is about the ebb and flow of a koi pond--the movement, the layers of reality, the tranquility and balance. It is multilayered and has meaning on many levels. So complex that I, my husband, my thesaurus and my Zen gardening book combined couldn't come up with a suitable title. So we thought we'd let you title it. The winning title was submitted by Rachel Jacobs. Thank you to all who submitted ideas. It was a difficult choice! |
