Mondays 6:30-8:30pm, January 18-March 15 (8 weeks)
Still life is the perfect subject with which to build your painting skills. The light doesn’t change, you don’t have to pay it to stay still, and it offers an endless variety of surfaces. Learn to paint glossy, matte, and metallic objects as well as fabric folds in a relaxed supportive atmosphere. All skill levels welcome. Some painting experience is recommended but not required. Min 5/Max 10

Still life painting offers the perfect opportunity to use those oil painting skills I’ve been teaching you. The subject doesn’t move, the light doesn’t change, and it gets you painting every week! A Weekend Study of the Impressionists Location: Frugoli/Tiessen Studio, 100 Walnut St, Peoria, IL Workshop

With instructor guidance, develop skills in paint handling, color mixing, and composition by copying a masterwork of your choice from the Impressionist era (loosely 1870-1920) using detailed images. You will want to choose a painting that you can get some detail shots on (from a book or online) so that you can really see the brushwork. All skill levels are welcome, however some painting experience is recommended. Supply list available. Min.5, max. 10.

"Four Paintings in One Weekend" Location: Frugoli/Tiessen Studio, 100 Walnut St, Peoria, IL Workshop

Painting is a lot like sculpting – you whittle away what’s unnecessary to get to the heart of the matter. In this workshop you will create three simplified paintings with a helpful critique at day’s end. On day two you will pick one of your previous day’s paintings as a springboard for a more finished painting. The instructor will also demonstrate. All skill levels are welcome, however some painting experience is recommended. Supply list available. Min.5, max. 10.
